Counter-Strike: Global Offensive (ofte forkortet CS:GO) er et taktisk online first-person shooter udviklet af Valve Corporation og Hidden Path Entertainment, der tog sig af Counter-Strike: Source efter dets udgivelse.
CS:GO er det fjerde spil i Counter-Strike-serien, hvis man ser bort fra Counter-Strike: Online og Counter-Strike: Neo. Counter strike var en modifikation til Half-Life fra 1998.

1. Learn the ins and outs of your weapon
It’s important to know both the strengths and weaknesses of the weapon you are using so that you can adjust your gameplay style accordingly. For example, the Glock will only kill in a single headshot when you are close to your enemy. While, the USP-S can kill your opponent with a single headshot from a fairly long distance.
So as a counter-terrorist with a USP-S, you will want to engage your opponent from a distance and avoid close-range duels. On the other hand, as a terrorist with a Glock, you’ll want to engage your opponent from a much closer range and avoid those long-range duels. This way you’ll have a much better chance to get the kill from a single headshot.
Furthermore, the vast majority of rifles are extremely inaccurate to shot while you are moving. However, Shotguns, SMGs, and Pistols tend to maintain a good bit of accuracy even while you are running.
2. Know how to shoot
In CS:GO there are several different ways that you can shoot your weapon. You can send an entire magazine of bullets in the direction of your enemy, or you can carefully take a single shot at a time aiming for your enemy’s head.
Each gun has its own spray pattern. However, they all start by firing straight up and then after a certain amount of time the pattern strays to the side. Your best bet is to concentrate on getting the first 6-7 bullets from a M4 or AK-47 right on your target.
Learning a proper spray of 6-7 bullets is fairly easy, you’ll have to compensate for vertical recoil. Though, the remaining bullets become much harder and it will take a lot more practice since you have to compensate horizontally as well.
For the most part, you’ll either shoot your opponent with the first 6-7 bullets or they will shoot you. So, its imperative to focus on getting those first bullets directly on their target.
In all cases of spraying or bursting you want to aim the first shot at the head and then pull downwards. Always aim for a headshot on first shot!
3. Learn when to shoot
When playing CS:GO, it is important to know when it is the right time to shot. There is a technique called prefire that you should be familiar with. Essentially, prefire is about shooting before you actually know if an enemy is there or not. This is a technique that many professional CS:GO players use.
Going hand in hand with knowing the maps, there are various spots on each map where typically potential enemies should be. The best method of using prefire is to peek around a corner or pop around a corner of a typical spot and shoot where you expect the enemy to be.
In the best case scenario, if your opponent is there and your crosshair placement is right, you’ll kill them before they see you.
4. Crosshair placement is crucial
Crosshair placement is CS:GO is crucial to becoming a good competitive player. If you spectate lower ranking gamers, you’ll notice that for a majority of the time many players are aiming their crosshair at the ground.
You’ll need to keep your crosshair at head height at all times. If an enemy appears, you won’t have to move your mouse up or down at all, just click in the right moment to get that headshot. Furthermore, if you are constantly aiming at head level, you are greatly increasing your chances of “panic shots” scoring you a kill.
5. Increase your game awareness
In CS:GO its important to keep track of everything that is going on around you. You should always know where your teammates are, what direction they are covering, and where the enemy has been spotted. At first this might seem like an impossible task, but with time it will get easier to do.
A lot of the time you’ll have to deal with many unknown factors. For instance, maybe only one of the five enemies have been spotted—so your picture of the game will be based more on guesswork than actual facts. Don’t worry though, this is command and you’ll rarely have a 100% of the information.
